Underfunded and Waiting

The Arc Maryland advocates for funding for:

  • The Developmental Disability Administration and associated Develpmental Disability -related supports, services, and programs. 
  • Crisis categories (crisis prevention and crisis resolution) of the DDA Waiting List
  • All transitioning-age youths
  • An annual cost of living increase for service providers and direct support personnel
  • The Community-Based Services Waiver for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism Waiver)
  • Respite Care through the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR) budgets
  • Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security
  • Infants and Toddlers Program to ensure supports and early intervention services

The Arc Maryland is committed to working with the State of Maryland to ensure developmental disability services are provided efficiently and effectively, while promoting the health, safety and meaningful desired outcomes of the individual served.

We work with the State to work through issues related to Federal and State requirements related to funding as well as matching federal funds for Medicaid, Medicaid Waivers and Vocational Rehabilitation.

In one of the wealthiest states in the nation, its a travesty that we have thousands of people in crisis.
