President Barron has encouraged Penn State community members to speak up for Penn State funding — read his message here.
Help keep Penn State strong, affordable, and accessible
We Penn Staters are proud that our University is Pennsylvania’s only land-grant institution. Penn State is a public university that proudly carries out our mission through our committment to service to the Commonwealth and its many communities and constituencies.
We fulfill this mission thanks to a partnership with the Commonwealth that has existed since 1855. Through the Commonwealth’s investment of approximately $250 million each year, Penn State is able to offer more than $570 million in tuition savings to nearly 55,000 Pennsylvania resident students.
But this year, after a three-month budget impasse, the 2017-18 Pennsylvania budget has not been finalized. The stalemate calls into question whether the Commonwealth has enough revenue to fund Penn State and Pennsylvania’s other public universities. Penn State faces the potential of devastating cuts that could hurt its ability to carry out its mission and put the in-state tuition rate in jeopardy.
So we’re calling on all Pennsylvanians in our Penn State community to Speak Up For Penn State! Whether you’re an alumnus or alumna, current student, parent, employee, or friend, your voice makes a difference.
Please take action right now by filling out the short form below and clicking on the "SUBMIT" button. That will take you directly to a sample letter you can use to contact your legislators and ask them to fund Penn State! (If you are a Pennsylvania-resident student, we suggest you use your permanent home address.)
